Presentation Description: Interested in learning the basics of seismic bridge engineering? Since engineers in the east coast don’t get a lot of exposure to seismic engineering, PENC is excited to do a very interesting lunch presentation to go over this intriguing topic. This is a quick overview of past seismic events, present design practices, and what’s coming up in the future of seismic design of bridges. This seminar will provide a practical/graphic approach rather than a heavily analytical approach to encourage a basic understanding of the requirements of bridge design and how this relates directly to current construction practices in our industry.
