Volunteer Opportunity: Tobacco Road Marathon Cleanup Help us support the runners and keep the course beautiful The PENC YM Committee is teaming up with the Tobacco Road Marathon in Cary to assist with post-race cleanup along the trail and course. This is a great opportunity to give back, spend time outdoors, and support a well-known community event.
We will be working in small teams to help pick up discarded water cups and other materials along sections of the course after the last runners have passed. The race organizers will provide trash bags and gloves, and all collected materials will be picked up by their cleanup crews. Volunteer Shifts - Sunday, March 15 To keep things organized, we are offering two cleanup shifts:
- Shift 1: 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
- Shift 2: 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM
Volunteers will be assigned to specific trail or roadway segments within each shift. Expect to walk up to a few miles at a relaxed pace. Location: Course sections along the Tobacco Road Marathon route in the Cary / Morrisville area. Specific meeting locations and assignments will be shared with registered volunteers prior to the event. How to Sign Up: Please Register through PENC (Click the Register Button above) so we can submit our group list to the race organizers. What to Bring: - Comfortable walking shoes
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Water bottle
- A willingness to help and have fun
Volunteering together is a great way to support community events while connecting with fellow engineers and friends. We hope you’ll join us!
