Speakers: 

Shawsheen Baker is the Capital Projects Superintendent for the City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources. With advanced degrees and a professional background in architecture, landscape architecture and planning, Shawsheen is a licensed landscape architect, AICP certified planner, and LEED accredited professional with over 25 years of experience in planning and development of public facilities. Shawsheen also holds an appointed position on the North Carolina Landscape Architect Licensing Board, currently serving as the Treasurer. When not working, Shawsheen enjoys bread baking, jigsaw puzzles and Sudoku. 

Luana Deans is the Transportation Planning Engineer for the Town of Cary. After receiving her Masters degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech, Luana worked for both the public and private sectors living in Norfolk, VA and South Florida before moving to Raleigh.  She’s prefers traffic operations, ITS and transportation planning projects.  Since 2017, she’s worked for Cary managing transportation studies, their sidewalk program and works to leverage outside funds to build infrastructure projects.  Her craziest job was working in Atlanta’s Olympic Village as Assistant Transportation Director.  She’s has 3 kids, is obsessed with travel, loves to read and wake surf.
