This presentation has been presented in parts to a select audience for EPRI. Attendees will be able to: - explain a centralized microgrid control hierarchy and NCEC's situational hierarchy of control - explain and identify the 5 parts to a microgrid - articulate the necessity of microgrid field testing - explain the difference between microgrid field testing, microgrid simulation testing, and microgrid hardware in the loop testing - explain how NCEC incorporates all three types of testing into the Eagle Chase Expansion Project Tim leads the NCEC DER Engineering team that directs and oversees the design, construction, commissioning, and operational support of North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives DER Fleet. This includes 5 diverse microgrids, 9 solar + storage sites, and 17 substation collocated battery energy storage systems.
