PENC for Advocacy Day

PENC invites you to join us for Advocacy Day at the North Carolina General Assembly (NCGA) on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

We'll meet at the NCGA and embark on meetings with legislators to introduce you to the members who represent you personally as well as members who work on issues that impact engineering across the state. From members working on regulatory reform, building codes, infrastructure funding and issues, (energy, water resources, transportation, environment) and more, you'll have a chance to hear what's important to them, share your views, and understand how PENC can provide insight and guidance on public policy in North Carolina.

We hope you'll join us for all or some portions of our big day at the legislature. More information will be shared as it becomes available!

Who's My State Representative? We will want to know the names of your state representatives! You can easily find out who your representative are by clicking here: https://www.ncleg.gov/findyourlegislators

What will Advocacy Day be like? We are working to schedule meetings but things will get shifted around by lawmakers as committee meetings are scheduled. You will not be left alone, unless you want to be, and we will guide you throughout the day and in meetings.

Parking is available at visitor's lots near the General Assembly. We recommend Visitor Lot #1 at Jones and Edenton Streets.

Security. There is security you'll need to pass through in the Legislative Building (LB). You’ll need to put keys, phone, laptop out of any bags and through security separately from bags. Men, you’ll also need to empty your pockets. Be mindful what you bring and how you “pack” to keep things easy to get in and out of pockets/bags to get through security. We’ll have to go through security every time we go in and out of the buildings.
