Trash Into Cash: Air Compressor retrofit to use Steam from Landfill Gas

Join ECC PENC for a retrospective look at an industrial retrofit project to replace an existing 400 Horsepower air compressor motor with a steam turbine using steam generated from burning landfill gas. The presentation will follow the lifecycle of the project from first concept, to planning, design, installation and operation. Details of technical problems encountered during the project and how they were solved will be discussed. The conclusion of the presentation will focus on present operating status, savings demonstrated, and maintenance required.

Siegfried (Sieg) F. Sanders, PE, C.E.M – Retired from HCLTech, Managing Consultant

Sieg recently retired from HCLTech. The last 20 years he was a Managing Consultant implementing SAP ERP Enterprise Asset Management systems. Prior to this he as Plant Engineer in Pharmaceutical and Dairy industries. He has both a BSME and MBA from NC State University. He is also a US Navy veteran having served aboard a Fast Attack nuclear submarine in the 70’s.
