NCBELS Rules of Professional Conduct & Ethics Update

Lunch provided at 11:30 PM and presentation will begin at 12:00 PM.

Session Overview

Effective as of the 2024 license renewal, for all licensees in North Carolina, at least 1 PDH shall be in the Rules of Professional Conduct or in Ethics. This presentation will touch on this recent CPC rule change, the Board’s enforcement process, and the Rules of Professional Conduct. There will be examples of how engineers found themselves in ethical dilemmas and the consequences of committing these violations. This presentation will serve as the 1 PDH requirement for Rules of Professional Conduct or Ethics.

David J. Evans, Assistant Executive Director, NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors

David Evans joined the staff of the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors in 1998. As the Board’s Assistant Executive Director David supervises investigations of engineers, surveyors, and corporations as well as non-licensed practice. David also oversees business licensure and compliance; continuing professional competency; license applications and renewals; and the Board’s regular program of enforcement and education. David previously conducted criminal investigations in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Investigator. He is a past Chairman of the Committee on Law Enforcement for the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying and served on the Law Enforcement Advisory Group. David has a B.A. in History and Social Science from Eastern Connecticut State University.

PDHs: 1 PDH  (Note: While PENC offers Professional Development Credit for this program, it is up to each Professional Engineer to determine if the content is relevant to his/her individual practice and suitable for his/her continuing education.)
