Lunch Program (1 PDH): Introduction to FREEDM: A Systems Approach to Incorporating More DER

This presentation will summarize the vision of the FREEDM Center, provide a background on wide bandgap semiconductors, and provide an update on the Solid State Transformer (SST). The SST was an "MIT Technology Review" Top 10 Breakthrough of the Year in 2011. NC State has continued to lead the way in power electronics applications for the power system and this presentation will bring you up to speed on the latest research.

Lunch Speakers:
Ken Dulaney, PE

Director of Industry and Innovation, FREEDM Systems Center

Ken Dulaney is the Director of Industry and Innovation at the FREEDM Systems Center, an NSF Engineering Research Center headquartered at NC State University dedicated to building the internet of energy: a network of distributed energy resources that intelligently manages power using secure communications and advanced power electronics.
