Tuesday, February 17th - Executive Director Betsy Bailey responds to a column that denigrated engineers in the Raleigh News & Observer.

While conceding that engineers do have to make a living like the rest of us, they don't do it at the expense of compromising their ethics and objectivity. In fact, like doctors who are bound by the Hippocratic oath, a licensed professional engineer makes a similar pledge to place service before profit, the honor and standing of the profession before personal advantage, and the public welfare above all consideration, and, like doctors, they can also face disciplinary action and possibly revocation of their license if they are found to be in violation of rules of professional conduct.
