Hear what PENC Members have to say about the value of membership:

"I thought that PENC would allow me to quickly get involved with the Wilmington engineering community especially because I was new to the area and the only engineer in my program. It was one of the best decisions I made. My experiences in PENC have increased my appreciation for my profession and I have personally benefited from the leadership opportunities that came my way."

-Ken Diehl, PE, PhD
Engineering Programs, UNCW

"I have benefitted personally in large form from the opportunity PENC gave me for genuine leadership development.  There is nothing like honing your leadership skills to inspire and motivate a volunteer organization.  Meanwhile, there is real everyday networking benefit by being an active member of PENC.  Over the years I have heard Executive Directors say that “your next boss, employee, or client could be sitting next to you at the local chapter meeting.”  In fact, that has been the case for me.  However, more than anything the networking has provided me with mentors for so many things.  That is the invaluable, yet intangible asset of our organization."

-Terri Ratcliff, PE, PhD, F.NSPE
NC State Industrial Extension Services

"The benefits of my 10-plus years of membership in PENC are numerous.  I'm most grateful for the guardianship of my licensure in an active way, the camaraderie and friendships with genuine folks I've met, and the open door to leadership opportunities.  What a great organization!"

- Hardy L. Willis, PE
Vaughn & Melton

"There is really no other organization that promotes the engineering profession.  Now, perhaps more than ever before, we have tremendous technical challenges in front of us.  As a society, we can convince some of our children to take up these challenges as our future engineers and ensure that we maintain a good standard of living for us all.  This may be the single most important thing we do, and in doing so, we allow ourselves to grow as well."

- David Causey, PE
